Visiting a physiotherapist early after an injury or onset
of discomfort can mean a speedier recovery, and therefore,
less time away from work or sport. In addition, the physiotherapist
will work with the individual to help to prevent reoccurrence
once the complaint has resolved.
Uckfield physiotherapy is specific to the needs of the
individual, and treatment may involve the use of exercises,
manual therapy, deep massage and soft tissue techniques,
electrotherapy, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator
(TENS) passing an electrical current through the body for
pain control, postural or ergonomics training, pain education,
hydrotherapy, or exercise advice.
Every new patient will be taken through a detailed case
history of their complaint as well as any past medical history,
followed by a full examination in order to make a clinical
diagnosis. The physiotherapist will then outline a tailored
programme of treatment to aid recovery.
You do not need to be referred by your doctor to see a
physiotherapist. Although we have excellent links with the
GPs in the area, physiotherapy is a primary health care
profession.
The physiotherapist at our Uckfield clinic is a member
of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, and is registered
with the Health Professions Council following a fulltime
three-year degree at university.
