Pilates is well known to increase body awareness and control,
as well as improving alignment and posture. Because of this,
it is a fantastic means of strengthening the protective,
deep core muscles of the body, thus minimising bodily pain
and discomfort. And although the core muscles of the abdominals
and back are strengthened from the start, the movement sequences
are varied and their complexity gradually heightened, thus
achieving a stronger and leaner torso.
The type of Pilates can vary, with some classes using only
mat work and others using more individual training with
a machine known as a Power Plate. This provides resistance,
to build strength and stamina faster and to readily encourage
correct alignment and posture, and is a fun ideal for anyone
who has a busy lifestyle. Uckfield Pilates instructors are
fully qualified to undertake both types.
The Pilates classes in Uckfield focus on specific areas
of the body, while at the same time carrying out movement
patterns that incorporate the whole body. This re-educates
and restores optimum muscular and skeletal function.
In our Uckfield Pilates classes, we encourage everyone to
give the exercise a try, irrespective of age or fitness
levels. And because it is gentle and controlled, it is the
ideal exercise for many people who would otherwise be hesitant
to exercise – e.g. pregnant women or sufferers of
chronic, often debilitating conditions such as osteoarthritis
or osteoporosis.
